As the name suggests, these are shirts that are less prone to creasing. This usually eliminates the need to iron the shirt after you remove it from the closet or travel case. There are several ways to make a non-iron shirt. For example, you can weave cotton with elastane (stretch) so that the fabric is more elastic. In addition, you can make it more resilient via a two-ply, twill or herringbone weave. A final option is to treat the cotton fibers with a coating. This coating allows your body temperature to make existing and new wrinkles disappear gradually.
Ironing shirt maintenance
Despite the name, this does not imply that you do not need to do anything else to the shirt. You may still need to iron it in some cases. Especially if you have an iron-free shirt with a special coating, it is important not to wash it too hot so that the treatment remains effective.
When washing iron-free shirts, it is important to put them in the drum only with other shirts. Set the washing machine to 30 degrees Celsius and 400 rpm. If your washing machine does not have 400 rpm, choose the lowest possible speed. Once the washing machine is done, take the shirts out and hang them on a hanger. While doing so, button the buttons and let the shirts dry. In principle, you don't need to iron them afterward, for example, when wearing them under a jacket. Should you still want to run the iron over them, you will be done in a few minutes.
